AMS-Wadkin Bursgreen increases the number of trainers for its woodworking machinery training courses

At the beginning of the year, Advanced Machinery Services (AMS) opened its Wadkin Bursgreen Academy with two trainers and now, eight months later, a new member has been recruited within the training department.

The new trainer will cover training courses in the London area and South of the country, which are in high demand. One of the advantages that Wadkin Bursgreen Academy offers is a written quotation within 24 hours following a customer enquiry. As well as this, customers can decide whether they'd like the trainer to visit their workshop, or attend training at the Leicestershire-based Academy.

Steve McGloin, Training Director, said: “Since we opened our woodworking training academy, we've received an increased number of training requests. We're very pleased to receive these enquires, but we need more trainers to cover these extra demands. We aspire to give the best service and offer closer dates in order to deliver the training as soon as possible.” Steve continues: "Our intention is to have six trainers by the end of the year."

Wadkin Bursgreen Academy provides woodworking training courses for all woodworking machinery, from novice woodworkers to trainers. Attendees can learn about a wide range of machines, ask questions and seek advice from highly-qualified trainers, who benefit from having more than 30 years' industry experience.

Gary, Wadkin Bursgreen Trainer, said: “Some people in the woodworking industry still don’t know that, by law, everyone who works with woodworking machinery must have an accredited certificate. We often receive calls asking whether an experienced machinist can deliver training to other operators and the answer is, simply, 'no', unless the machinisthas undertaken the Train the Trainer Woodworking Machinery Course and received the necessary accreditation.”

The Wadkin Bursgreen Academy began by offering General Woodworking Machine Training courses for the novice, plus Refresher and Train the Trainer courses. But now, more specific training courses are available, which include:

* Profile Moulder Setting and Operation
* Straight Knife & Profile Grinding
* Abrasive Wheel Safety
* Chainsaw Training

Phil, Training Manager, commented: “At Wadkin Bursgreen, we work to deliver the best woodworking machinery training courses across the country. My goal as a trainer is to ensure that when I've finished my job, all the operators know the risks and the correct way to use thee machines in a safe manner. I like to prepare and deliver interactive, interesting and useful courses.

“We tailor every single training course for our customers and I share my 30 years' knowledge and experience with students. We want attendees to learn and retain all the information delivered in order to avoid potential accidents. Another thing that our customers appreciate is the fact they receive a quick response to their enquiry and can produce the certification as soon as possible, as we appreciate how important this is for them.”
