The Hoffmann Dovetail Key is an innovative jointing system, developed in Germany over 30 years ago, for furniture and window production, door and façade fabricating, in addition to daily projects within joinery workshops.

Hoffmann Machine Company will once again be exhibiting at the world’s leading woodworking and wood processing trade fair, LIGNA 2033. Situated in Hall 13 on Stand B28, the Hoffmann team look forward to showcasing their innovative range of machinery, and demonstrating how the Hoffmann dovetail jointing system could help potential customers and their businesses.

Besides key-way routing machines, double mitre saws, drilling and assembly systems, Hoffmann develop, design and build ‘your’ machine as a customised system solution. The company’s product range includes those with different processing steps for the efficient production and assembly of wooden components needing to be joined; this includes specialised machinery solutions tailored to individual production requirements, which have been developed according to a customer’s own designs.

Such bespoke machines are increasingly in demand, and with standard equipment or CNC machining centres, it’s often the case that a special task can only be performed with additional time or making other compromises, but this doesn’t offer an efficient solution.

Various machines will be demonstrated throughout the event, ranging from the smaller bench-top X-line 20 and MU-3, up to the free-standing MS35-SF and PP2-NC. Designed specifically for easy transport and use on site, and in limited space, Hoffmann’s new MU-S model will also make its debut.

• X-line 20 & MU range: manual dovetail routing machine – Transportable and adaptable bench-top machines, which rout a single dovetail slot with each machine cycle, for Hoffmann Key sizes W-0/-1/-2/-3 /-4.

• PP Range: automatic dovetail routing & dowel boring machine – NC-based machine for preparing the frame and corner joints in building components, such as those for window and door production. Routs dovetail slots – Hoffmann Keys W-1/2/3 – and drills dowel holes from 8mm.

• MS35-SF: saw & routing machine – Two clean precision mitre cuts to an exact length in one machine cycle. When both pieces will be joined together or in a frame, they can be prepared with one or two dovetail slots in precise positions within the cut faces, for jointing with Hoffmann Keys. Suitable for a maximum workpiece size of 90 × 90mm and Hoffmann Key sizes W-1/2/3. Ideal for cutting profiles for glazing beads, cornices, plinths, etc. in wood, aluminium or plastic at 45°. Can also be used solely as a double mitre saw, for cutting profiles to length, such as glazing beads, cornices, plinths, etc. in wood, aluminium and plastic, all at 45° angles.
