Weinig to take over H.I.T. Maschinenbau – strategic investment to expand automation & project competence

Michael Weinig AG’s headquarters in Tauberbischofsheim, Germany

Woodworking machinery specialist, Michael Weinig AG, has acquired the majority shares in H.I.T. Maschinenbau and H.I.T. Keilzinkentechnik. The strategic acquisition, which requires final approval from antitrust authorities, will see Weinig expand its portfolio in the area of automation and mechanisation and upscale its Glulam and sawmill technology segment.

Producing customer-specific solutions for the sawmill and timber industries from its sites in Ettringen and Breitenthal, Germany, H.I.T.’s Managing Directors - Franz Anton and Werner Spieth - will be responsible for the business’ operational running, with H.I.T.’s ongoing projects set to remain unchanged. Franz Jeckle will also continue to support the team in an advisory role.

Committed to the company’s future development, Gregor Baumbusch, CEO of Michael Weinig AG, says: “With H.I.T., we’re expanding our competencies in the project business and are delighted to welcome a team with project experience to the Weinig Group.”
