Enter the Wood Awards by 24 May – for free! – to join the celebration of the very best of timber design, craftsmanship and installation. The Wood Awards is the UK’s premier competition for architecture and product design in wood – setting the benchmark, year-on-year, for timber excellence

With 10 dedicated categories, the awards welcome outstanding timber projects of all shapes, sizes and stripes.

Entries are divided into two main categories: ‘Buildings’ and ‘Furniture & Object’. Within Buildings there are six project categories: ‘Education & Public’, ‘Small Project’, ‘Private’, ‘Commercial & Leisure’, ‘Restoration & Reuse’, and ‘Interiors’. There are four project categories to enter in Furniture & Object: ‘Bespoke Furniture’, ‘Production Furniture’, ‘Sculpted Object’, and ‘Student’.

As well as selecting a winner and highly commended project for each of the 10 categories, the judges nominate recipients for special awards, at their discretion, including the Structural and Sustainability Awards, and the prestigious Gold Award – given to the winner of winners.

A stellar judging line-up

Entries will be judged by two panels of influential professionals from across the UK architecture and design industry. The fully independent judges assess each submission, and will visit every shortlisted project in person, making the Wood Awards an exceptionally rigorous competition.

The buildings panel is led by Jim Greaves, Principal at Hopkins Architects, and includes specially selected experts to judge the sustainability and structural merits of entries. The furniture and product panel is this year chaired by award-winning furniture designer-maker, Sebastian Cox.

Why enter the Wood Awards?

Established in 1971, the Wood Awards is unique in its integrity and longevity. It is entirely non-profit – aiming only to recognise excellence – and is judged in-person by elite panels of independent experts.

Committed to being affordable and accessible to all, including small companies, studios, workshops, and individual designer-makers, the Wood Awards continues to be completely free to enter.

Each shortlisted project is displayed in a public exhibition as part of Material Matters design fair as well as published on the Wood Awards website, showcasing the achievements of entrants to a wide design audience. Culminating the awards, the winners are announced at a prestigious ceremony at Carpenter’s Hall and receive hand-crafted timber trophies.

Conditions of entry

With permission from the owner, anyone associated with a building or product that has been completed in the last two years is able to enter. Buildings must be located within the UK, whilst furniture and other products must have been either designed or manufactured in the UK. Fitted furniture must be in the UK. There are no restrictions on the size or budget of a project. Entrants are welcome to submit more than one project.

All entries must be submitted via the Wood Awards website. Please note that there's no entry fee for submission.
