Blum celebrates 70 years alongside Queen & Country

We all know that 2022 is an important year, culminating in the upcoming Platinum Jubilee bank holiday celebrations. However, it also marks the 70th anniversary of fittings manufacturer, Blum.

Founded on 1 March 1952, Blum originally made horseshoe studs after the founder and farrier, Julius Blum, realised that keeping horses’ shoes on with a simple stud would stop them slipping in adverse weather. Just six years later, the company made its first furniture hinge, and thus a business was born, which would go on to dominate the furniture industry with subsidiaries all over the world, a turnover in excess of €2.3 billion, and over 8,000 employees, in addition to a thriving apprenticeship programme.

Like Queen Elizabeth II, Blum hasn’t rested on its laurels during 70 years of business. The product range has expanded to now include numerous hinges, drawer runners and lift systems for wall units. And the innovation doesn’t stop there: Blum’s services are unrivalled in the industry, with a technical department, which is open 12 hours a day, every weekday, as well as Saturday mornings; a retail services department, which aids retailers in showing Blum products to their best advantage; as well as numerous aids to installation and manufacture, both online and physical. In addition, Blum offers a lifetime guarantee on all their products – you could say a lifetime of service – just like the Queen.

The final cherry on top in the UK is that Blum’s headquarters are now situated in Milton Keynes, which has been awarded ‘City of Milton Keynes’ status as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Marketing Team Leader, Lisa Robinson, commented: “Hard work and determination spawn new opportunities. At the heart of it all is our commitment to improve not only our products, but the service and support we offer to our partners. It’s in our nature.”
