SCM surface technologies for ever more exclusive surface treatment solutions

sergiani 3d form – 3D panel laminating press

SCM stands out as a unique partner for the entire surface treatment process with all-round products and services, plus exclusive, sought-after finishing solutions, which are designed to meet all process and end product type requirements.

The group includes a very wide range of superfici technologies, which ensures the supply of integrated painting lines of all kinds, for exclusive and sophisticated finishing solutions. There’s now also an extensive offering of dmc technologies for sanding – sergiani for pressing and superfici for finishing – that are further enhanced with new devices and models.

Superfici compact xl spraying machine

Sergiani pressing solutions are designed for the lamination of panels with 3D surfaces as well as the production of blockboard panels. The sergiani 3d and sergiani 3d form hp presses can satisfy any production demand in either version, with a single manual tray all the way up to three automatic trays, which cut the cycle time to that spent during the pressing phase, for any kind of machining.

This can be achieved with both high gloss coatings and more complex three-dimensional shapes, which helps to ensure that the finished product is of unparalleled quality. Also forming part of the pressing range is sergiani gsl-a, for the continuous production of blockboard panels, with an automatic loading/unloading feature to guarantee high flexibility and productivity. Highly configurable to meet a customer’s demands, it presents various blockboard loading solutions and also includes an option for adding pneumatic stops to create multi-row panels.

The latest dmc products represent high productivity, easy-to-use solutions, which keep the specific needs of the individual user in mind, especially when it comes to research into high quality finishing and an improved user experience in terms of production cycles.

New as of January 2022 is the ‘eye-S’ control panel for the dmc sd, which will replace the ‘LOGIC SC’ and ‘PRO-SAND’ electronic control panels. Another new entry is the brand-new planetary unit on the dmc eurosystem, which is designed to create any kind of finishing effect desired. And last but not least is the carving unit, found on top-of-the-range dmc system sanding machines, which is capable of achieving sophisticated three-dimensional effects.

Using a superfici spraying application and excimer treatment, dramatically matt surfaces can be achieved, which are surprisingly silky to the touch

Superfici’s latest release is the valtorta bravo 2 – a two-arm Cartesian robot – which is designed to halve spraying times without sacrificing the excellent quality achieved. The seven-axis – extendible to 11 – updated maestro robot has been developed for window and door painting lines, and new devices and software allow for even faster colour change, which is ideal for ‘batch 1’ production needs.

A key player is the new compact xl sprayer, designed to satisfy a higher production capacity while ensuring perfect handling of overspray in the spraying booth. Combined with the excimatt innovative excimer UV system, it delivers an exceptional super-opaque finish with a surprisingly silky effect – if requested – as well as an incomparable surface resistance owing to the absence of matifying agents in the product. Indeed, excimatt allows for a mechanical micro-texturing to be achieved on the layer of paint applied. This replaces the opaqueness often found when using chemical additives, which would normally reduce scratch resistance on the final painted surface.

The 3D carving unit group features a planer with X and Y axes, which are controlled by a brushless motor

This technology is extremely effective when treating flat, shaped surfaces as well as on the profile, thanks to specific superfici devices for three-dimensional spraying. Excimatt can be applied in roller lines or thin layers for flat surface painting, as well as spray lines for the finishing of shaped panels and edges.

Panels are sprayed in a dedicated spraying booth

Maximum focus is placed on environment and cutting consumption, and particular energy saving devices that reduce air and water volumes required for ventilation and cleaning. In fact, cleaning is fast and first rate due to the presence of automatic change filters, featuring an efficient cleaning system for the paint recovery unit, and air circulation conditions that are always optimal in the spraying environment.

This system can be integrated and made even simpler when used in conjunction with other technologies in the SCM Group portfolio, all of which are made possible thanks to the Maestro Active Finishing software control.
